Itinerary

Day 1: Katunayake (Airport) - Negombo

Travelling Time: Approx. 30 mins

Welcome to Sri Lanka!

Arrive at Colombo International Airport. here, you will be met by a designated guide. After the formalities at the airport, you will be escorted to your air-conditioned vehicle and then transferred to Negombo.

The Negombo Fish Market is a bustling marketplace located in the coastal city of Negombo in Sri Lanka. It is one of the largest fish markets in the country, and is renowned for its fresh seafood offerings. Visitors can witness fishermen bringing in their catches from the ocean and auctioning them off to buyers, creating a lively and vibrant atmosphere. The market is particularly famous for its wide variety of seafood, including lobster, crab, prawns, and a variety of fish. Visitors can also enjoy a delicious seafood meal at one of the many restaurants located around the market, making it a must-visit destination for seafood lovers.

Day 2: Negombo - Sigiriya

Travelling Time: Approx. 3 hours

After breakfast leave for Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is a popular tourist attraction located in the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. It is a sanctuary for orphaned and injured elephants, providing a safe haven for their rehabilitation and care. Visitors can watch the elephants being fed and bathed in the nearby river, and have the opportunity to take part in feeding the baby elephants with a bottle. Day 3: Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Hiriwadunna

Travelling Time: Approx. 4 hours

Morning after breakfast climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

*Sigiriya Rock Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the central Matale District of Sri Lanka. It is an ancient rock fortress built in the 5th century by King Kasyapa and is considered one of the most significant historical and archaeological sites in Sri Lanka. The fortress is situated on top of a giant rock, rising 200 meters above the surrounding landscape, and features intricate frescoes, landscaped gardens, and an impressive network of water gardens and fountains. Visitors can climb the rock to reach the summit and explore the ancient ruins, which include a palace complex and an extensive network of pathways and staircases.

Afterwards enjoy the authentic rural village experience in Hiriwadunna village.

Hiriwaduna Village Safari offers an immersive cultural experience in the rural heartland of Sri Lanka. Located near Sigiriya, this safari allows visitors to witness the traditional way of life in a village setting. Evening explore the mediaeval kingdom of Polonnaruwa.

The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located in the North Central Province of Sri Lanka. It served as the capital of Sri Lanka during the 11th to 13th centuries and is considered one of the country's most significant historical and archaeological sites. The city features numerous ancient monuments, including palaces, temples, and colossal Buddha statues, reflecting the country's rich cultural and religious heritage. The ruins of the city showcase the impressive engineering and architectural achievements of the ancient Sri Lankan civilization. Visitors to Polonnaruwa can explore the ancient ruins, including the Gal Vihara, Thuparama, and the Royal Palace complex, and experience the city's fascinating history and cultural significance.

Day 4: Sigiriya - Dambulla - Kandy

Travelling Time: Approx. 4 hours

After breakfast check out and leave for the heritage city of Kandy visiting Dambulla Cave Temple.

Dambulla cave temple, also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, is a complex of Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka's central province. Carved into a giant rock, it comprises of five caves adorned with over 150 statues of Buddha, frescoes, and paintings. The temple dates to the first century BC and has been continuously maintained and expanded over the centuries. The largest cave, the Maharaja Vihara, contains a 14-meter-long reclining Buddha statue, one of the largest in Asia. It is an important religious site and cultural landmark, attracting thousands of visitors every year and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991.

En route visit a spice garden in Matale.

*Spice Gardens in Matale is a popular attraction located in the central province of Sri Lanka. The gardens showcase a vast variety of spices and herbs that are used in traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, such as cinnamon, cardamom, vanilla, and cloves. Visitors can take a guided tour through the gardens to learn about the cultivation and processing of the spices, and also have the opportunity to taste and purchase the fresh and aromatic spices. The Spice Gardens offer a unique cultural experience, highlighting the importance of spices in Sri Lankan cuisine and culture. It's a must-visit destination for those who want to experience the vibrant flavours of Sri Lanka.

Negotiate pricing before purchasing. Suggest convert to your local currency to see if the product is worth it or not.

*Kandy is the hill capital and is another “World Heritage Site”. It was the last stronghold of the Sinhalese Kings during the Portuguese, Dutch and British rule and was finally ceded to the British in 1815 after an agreement. To the Buddhists of Sri Lanka and the World, Kandy is one of the most sacred sites as it is the home of the “Dalada Maligawa” - Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. Close by is the remains of the Royal Palace (“Maha Wasala”), “Palle Wasala”- where the Queens stayed-now used for the National Museum, “Meda Wasala” where other close relatives lived, Audience Hall, Natha Devala and Vishnu Devala are situated close by. The Bathing Pavilion (“Ulpenge”) is by the Lake and in the Center of the lake is the Island called “Kiri samudraya” (Milk white ocean) used by the kings as the summerhouse. Today it is the centre of Buddhism, Arts, Crafts, Dancing, Music, and Culture. Visitors can see these Dances & Music at the daily Cultural Performances held at several places in the city.

On arrival in Kandy, visit the local market around the city. Enjoy open-air views of picturesque Kandy. On completion at 1700hrs witness the Kandy Cultural Show.

In the evening at 1830hrs, witness the Traditional Theva Ceremony of the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

*The Evening Service starts around 6.30 p.m. and goes on till 7.15 p.m. During Hewisi sound withered, flowers are removed, and fresh flowers are offered. The evening service is to offer Lord Buddha juices or “Gilan Pasa” and other things. Sugar, Sukiri and the sugary sap of Kithul palm or “Althelijja” are offered in three small goblets and Honey, Ginger Juice and Ghee are offered in a combination of gold & silver goblets. There are two “Gilanpasa” offerings, the first and the second. The second “Giancana” offering started during the reign of King Keerthi Sri Rajasinghe.

Day 5: Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Travelling Time: Approx. 3 hours

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya visiting Ramboda Falls and a tea factory.

Nuwara Eliya is famous for its high-quality tea, which is grown in the surrounding hills and is an integral part of the city's culture and economy. The tea plantations in Nuwara Eliya are situated at an altitude of over 6,000 feet and benefit from the cool climate and fertile soil, resulting in tea with a distinct flavour and aroma. Visitors can take tours of the tea factories and plantations to learn about the tea-making process, from picking the leaves to the final product. The tours typically include tea-tasting sessions, allowing visitors to sample the various types of tea produced in the region. Tea production in Nuwara Eliya is not only a significant industry but also a way of life, with many families involved in the cultivation and production of tea for generations.

Enjoy the evening walk in Victoria Park Nuwara Eliya.

Nuwara Eliya is a picturesque city located in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Often referred to as "Little England", it is known for its cool climate, tea plantations, and colonial architecture. The city's lush green hills and valleys provide a stunning backdrop for a range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, cycling, and horse riding. Visitors can also explore the city's many attractions, including the Victoria Park, the Gregory Lake. Nuwara Eliya is also famous for its high-quality tea, which is grown in the surrounding hills and can be sampled at one of the many tea factories and plantations in the area.

Day 6: Nuwara Eliya - Colombo

Travelling Time: Approx. 4 hours

After breakfast leave for Colombo.

Evening cover the city tour in Colombo.

Colombo city tour is a great way to explore Sri Lanka's vibrant capital city.
